Abstract
Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of somatosensory enhancement stabilization exercises of
the neck on the dynamic balance, fall efficacy, neck dysfunction, and quality of life in stroke patients.

Methods The subjects were a total of 29 stroke patients. There were 13 patients in the experimental group and 16 patients in the control group (gender, age, height, weight). The experimental group performed somatosensory enhancement stabilization exercises of the neck and the control group performed only the stabilization exercises. The intervention lasted 8 weeks, during which the exercises were performed 3 times a week for 30 min. The following evaluation tools were used: TUG (Timed Up and Go), FESK (Falls Efficacy ScaleKorean), NDI (Neck Disability Index), and SSQOL (StrokeSpecific
Quality of Life).

Results Both groups decreased in TUG and NDI (p<0.05) and increased in FESK and SSQOL(p<0.05). There was no significant difference between the two groups in all evaluations(p<0.05).

Conclusion Somatosensory enhancement stabilization exercises of the neck were improving dynamic balance, falls efficacy, neck disability, and quality of Life in stroke patients.
